GUATEMALA - El Zapote - Gesha

$20.00

Hey yinz! It’s been a little while since we checked with our pals at El Zapote, hasn’t it? Let’s see what they’ve been up to. Paulo is diligently planning and practicing for the upcoming Guatemala Barista Championship and looking to win gold and head back to the world stage for the second time. His father and owner of El Zapote, Julio Melendez, finished up a harvest season that saw reduced production due to some unfortunate weather. It’s easy to take coffee for granted sometimes, but it is important to remember that it’s an agricultural product that can vary seasonally and is quite sensitive to climate changes. Despite this, we’re able to kick off Guatemala season with a banger from Julio and his team in Acatenango. Just in time for summer, let’s say hello to this traditionally washed Geisha.

As we meander into the dog days of summer, who among us doesn’t look forward to a glass of refreshing lemonade? Tangy, sweet, and thirst quenching, it’s a summer staple. How about if we tossed some flowers into that lemonade? Jasmine and orange blossom perhaps? Now we’re talking geisha. The citric acidity in these beans hits refreshing and juicy. Mix that with the familiar El Zapote terroir notes of apple and rooibos and we’ve got a classic geisha profile. The cup brews sweet and slick, creating a remarkably chuggable experience for something so complex. Perfect for iced coffee and summer good times.

TASTING NOTES:

JASMINE, ORANGE BLOSSOM, LEMONADE

(200 grams whole bean)
